Last week we worked on plate tectonics. We discussed topics about pangea, continental drift theory, earth quakes, volcanoes and mountains.

We will be having a science quiz next week. Start reviewing

Thursday, June 1st, 2017

Today in class we did a little Oral activity with a word list, and students had to match them. Some students need to be reviewing the work in class at home to prepare for the test we will have on June 21st.

We started discussing the next section, the layers of the earth's crust. Notes to be posted later.

Wednesday, May 30th, 2017

Today we finished talking about rocks and the rocks cycle. Students worked on an assignment. It will be due first thing in class on Thursday.

Here is the assignment- typesofrocksassignment.pdf

Here is the Types of Rock and Rock Cycle Notes.

Wednesday, May 24th, 2017

We have been looking at the three types of rock. Today we finished up sedimentary and metamorphic. Here are the notes.

Thursday, May 18th, 2017

We have been discussing the three types of rock. So far we have learned about Igneous. Today we looked at several common types of igneous rock and discussed features of each. Notes to follow when we finish sedimentary and metamorphic.

Today we finished discussing minerals and its properties. We completed a short worksheet.Tomorrow we move onto the classification of rocks.

Today we started the next unit The Earth's Crust is 7S. 7R will start this tomorrow, on Wednesday. Students are issued their booklet for the notes. This unit, I am just giving out one big one. Here are the notes from class 1.

Today we had our heat test! Next week we will begin the final unit of science, The Earth's crust.

Over the last few classes we finished up booklet three. We discussed the different ways homes are heated and talked about conductors and insulators. That's it for the heat unit! The last little bit of notes will be omitted from this unit. We need to get this unit finished and move onto Earth's Crust unit.

Today we did some review for Thursday's test! Study hard everyone!

Science Test Review!! Test - Thursday, May 4th!

Booklet 3

Today we did some demonstrations showing conduction and convection. We continued discussing three types of heat transfer, conduction, convection and radiation. We did an activity where different scenarios were given and you had to identify if it was conduction, convection or radiation. Next class, we will have a short in-class assignment on identifying the three types of heat transfer.

* We are approaching the end of the heat unit! Keep in mind we will be having a Unit test at the later part of next week

Last week we missed all but on of our science classes due to mini courses. On Monday, we began discussing heat transfer. Students were given their third and final booklet for this Heat unit! The notes we will work through in class are posted below. We began talking about conduction, convection and radiation. Today in class, we continued discussing heat transfer and looked at some videos.

Heat Transfer Notes - Part 3

Today we discussed the lab and completed the analysis questions in the lab write up. Students are to finish the conclusion on their own time and hand the Plateau Lab reports in on Monday, April 10th.

Today we worked in the lab on The Plateau Lab. Results were recorded. Next class we will work on analyzing them.

Yesterday we spent the class working on our states of matter assignment. It will be due on Wednesday, April 5th. This was the last class that will be given to complete it. Mrs B's classroom will be open at lunch on Monday and Tuesday for any groups that need to finish it. Next week we will complete a Lab on Monday and move onto the finally booklet, for this unit, discussing heat transfer.

Last week we continued to discuss the three states of matter and answer some comprehension questions. This week students will examine phase changes from one state of matter to the next and working on an assignment and some check your understanding questions. Assignment due date will be next week.

We are working through Heat Booklet Part 2.

Here is the assignment on the 3 states of matter.

Thursday, March 9th, 2017

We examined the 3 states of matter in detail. There was a lot of great discussions. Great class everyone!

Wednesday, March 8th, 2017

Today we had the science quiz. It is very important that you study for an quiz or tests. "Winging it" isn't going to get you very far.

We have been talking about 3 States of Matter. We watched Bill Nye's 3 states of matter video. We are working our way through the 2nd booklet of notes.

Thursday, March 2nd, 2017

There will be a short quiz on Wednesday, March 8th. This quiz will cover the first booklet of notes and the 5 points of the particle theory of matter. Here is the outline for the quiz.

Here are the notes for the first booklet.

Here are the notes for the second booklet. We will be using this for the next few weeks.

Wednesday, March 1st, 2017

We corrected check your understanding questions from last class. I gave our the second booklet of notes for heat. We completed the first part discussing what is Matter and the particle theory of matter.

Tuesday, February 28th, 2017

Yesterday we worked through some check your understanding questions for the first part of the heat unit. If you missed class, see Missed Work Bin for questions. Assignments are due today! You will have to stay for work recovery if assignment isn't finished. Today we move on to Part 2 of the heat unit, which discusses the particle theory of matter in regards to heat.

Thursday, February 23rd, 2017

We have been working through the first part of the heat unit. Students have been giving a short note booklet from which they have been copying their notes into. It is important that they don' lose these. It contains important information that will need for their tests, quizzes and other important assessments. We have been discussing temperature vs heat, temperature scales, early and modern heat instruments. Today students were given their first assignment. It is due Monday, February 27th. Class time will be given, but some work may need to be completed at home.
