Tuesday, March 22nd, 2016 Due to the snow days, the social studies letter assignments will be due today instead. A Social Studies test of Chapter 5 and 6 will be approaching at the later part of next week. Students will be given a study guideline within the next day or two.
Tuesday, March 8th, 2016 Letter Assignment due on Friday. We have already spent two classes working in this.
Thursday, March 3rd, 2016 Over the past week or so we have been talking about the Push for change for BNA in mid 1800's. People wanted a responsible government. We have been looking at the rebellion that happened in BNA and how it was affected. Here are the notes part 1 and part 2 . I'm still missing a few Comic Strips on Daily Life in BNA.
Tuesday, Feb 16th, 2016 We have discussed the various groups in British North America. We are currently working on a comic strip assignment that discusses the various aspects of daily life in BNA in the mid 1800's, ie. Homes, transportation, healthcare, education and passtimes.
Wednesday, Jan 28th, 2016 (Oops, I have been writing 2015 all month) Over the last several classes we began discussing Chapter 5 and what British North America looked liked in the Mid 1800's. We drew boundaries on a blank map of British North America and his colonies. This map should be kept in your notes as we will refer to it often. We succeeded some big events that shaped BNA. Here are the notes from today's class.
Monday, Jan 25th, 2015 Gave back test and assignments. We went through and discussed the correct answers and we talked about how to answer case study questions.
Thursday, Jan 21st, 2015 Went through the answers to our scavenger hunt. We then colored in a map of what British North America looked like in 1853 before it became Canada. This is the first part of the Political Empowerment- Unit 3
Wednesday, Jan 15th, 2015 We finished up the scavenger hunt of Monday. Today we have our Economic Empowerment Test.
Thursday, Jan 14th, 2015 Social Studies study guide given. Test on Monday. See Mrs. Benteau if you have any questions.
Tuesday, Jan 12th, 2015 Over the last few classes we have finished the Economic Empowerment unit. We have talked about the 4 sectors of the job force and we completed a short in-class assignment where students choose a project and showed how that product moved through the 4 job sectors. Study guide for the test was given our yesterday. Ecomonic empowerment test will be Monday, Jan 18th, 2015.
Tuesday, Jan 5th, 2015 We are preparing for a test on Economic Empowerment next week.. Today we went through and talked about personal capital, breaking the poverty cycle, owning a home and using money wisely. We then looked at the Habitat for Humanity case study.
Next class we will finish of the unit, and the following class an study guide will be given out. The study guide is to be completed as a assignment. I will be collecting it in and grading.
Wednesday, December 16th, 2015 Completed questions on a handout on poverty and the poverty cycle.. Students were expected to create a list of month expenses a family has and how much they think it cost. We will continue next day!
Monday, December 14th, 2015 Continue work using Google Classroom and Chrome books on Cost of living activity. This is not an assignment which will be graded. However, some of you don't have your Empowerment posters handed in. It was due Thursday after two classes to work on it. Get it in ASAP!
Friday, December 11th, 2015 The last two classes we have been looking for the cost of living and the poverty cycle. We started an activity on Google Classroom but today we couldn't get the Chrome books to finish. We will continue with this topic next week. No homework.
Monday,. December 7th, 2014 We continued working on the posters on Empowerment! Due next class.
Friday, December 4th, 2015 We began a poster assignment on the 5 types of Empowerment. See Mrs. B if you missed class.
Today we talked about capitalism vs socialism. We discussed which one Canada falls under. We then watched a short video about standard of living. We will continue to look at some of the criteria that determines standard of living.
